I previously shared my experience when I installed Veeam Backup & Replication v12, build 12.0.0.1420.
v12.1 received a lot of attention during the Veeam 100 Summit, and I highly suggest you review the content that was shared here, but also check out the links found at the bottom of that post from fellow Veeam Vanguards!
It’s now time to upgrade to build 12.1 (the image below is from my current Veeam Backup & Replication Server):
Once the ISO has been downloaded, you’ll then need to mount it. As my good friend Nico Stein mentioned in his blog post linked at the bottom of this post, it’s always a good practice to capture a backup of your Veeam config first, and also ensure no backup jobs are running before you begin with the upgrade.
Once the ISO has been mounted, please double-click Setup:
Next, select Upgrade:
Select Veeam Backup & Replication 12.1 to begin the upgrade process:
Followed by Upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication:
Accept the License Agreement:
At the Upgrade window, I selected Next to proceed:
Select your desired option at the License window, and then select Next to proceed:
A System Configuration Check is conducted:
Select your desired Service Account and then select Next:
Select your desired Database and then select Next:
If prompted, select Yes to proceed:
Select Upgrade at the Ready to Upgrade window to proceed:
The upgrade will proceed and will go through the various steps. My upgrade took roughly 20 minutes but keep in mind, I have a relatively small environment so the time may vary for yours:
The upgrade is a success and the v12.1 is reflected in the image below:
